BRONSON, MI – (WTVB) – Six new members of the Bronson Hall of Fame were formally inducted during ceremonies on Saturday night.
The new inductees are Lisa Snyder Guzy, Randy Ludwick, Rock Lee Ludwick, Julie Ganton Olson, Linda Weber and Kevin Williams.
Snyder Guzy won three varsity letters in basketball and scored nearly 1,000 points in her varsity career. She was the first female athlete from Bronson to be named to an all-state team making the 1977 All-state 1st team and was named Honorable Mention for the Detroit Free Press team. Snyder Guzy also excelled in track and softball. She finished third in the discus at the 1979 State Finals and set school records in both shot put and discus several times.
Randy Ludwick has made a lifetime commitment to the community of Bronson. His “gift of gab” has led to many MC stints where he’s shared his time and auctioneering talents for many functions and organizations over the years. He has done double duty many years serving as the announcer for both the Polish Festival Parade and the FFA Alumni Truck Pull.
Rock Lee Ludwick has also served his community in many ways over the years. He has supported the agricultural education of youth through the FFA and 4H Programs. Rock has mentored groups for competitions and chaperoned countless times to district, regional, state, and national conventions. He’s even been known to take personal vacation time to chaperone week-long trips to Washington, D. C. long after his own children were too old for the programs.
Ganton Olson was in the Academic Top Ten and despite a torn ACL during her sophomore year, she excelled in both volleyball and basketball. In volleyball, Ganton Olson was All-Conference, All-Area, All-Region, and was twice named to All-State teams. She was awarded the Kimberly A. Smith Memorial Award in volleyball. Ganton Olson earned All-Conference, All-Region and All-Area honors in basketball leading her team to the district championship her junior year. In her senior year, her team was district and regionals champs. Julie set school records with 28 rebounds in one game and tied the record with 38 points in a game.
Linda Weber served a total of 43 years in Bronson Community Schools. In the words of current principal, Wes McCrea, “Linda has committed most of her life to making Bronson Jr./Sr. High School a great school. She is more than just a valued staff member but is a true leader. She has offered many innovative ideas to make our school appealing and she has been a great ambassador for our school.” She was also an integral player in writing and implementing the Crisis Plan for the district.
Kevin Williams was hired by the Bronson Schools in 1993 as Athletic Director/Assistant Principal. In 1996 he moved to teaching Junior High Social Studies and did so until 2010 when he retired. He had been involved in many organizations, activities, and coaching and continued to do so after retirement. He organized golf scramble fundraisers for the golf team, volunteered to clerk track meets, and did weigh-ins for the wrestling team’s state meets. Kevin was a member of the School Board’s “Collaboration Committee” that helped to develop and run the “Hall of Fame” induction ceremonies. Williams was also an active member of The Bronson Athletic Boosters.
