COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners approved a request from the Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday to fill two Corrections Officer positions.
They are Police Officers Association of Michigan union positions with a starting wage of $14.82 an hour. There would also be new hire benefits. One position became open on May 28 due to a resignation while the other position will be vacant in August when a current Corrections Officer attends the Police Academy in order to fill a Road Patrol Deputy position.
The Commissioners also approved requests to sell five vehicles that are no longer being used due to high mileage and maintenance costs.
Four of the vehicles are from the Sheriff’s Department. They are a 2010 Crown Victoria; two 2011 Crown Victorias and a 2010 Ford Explorer detective unit. The other vehicle being sold is a 2008 Ford F-150 used by the Drain Commission.
It is estimated that each vehicle would bring in about $1,500. Money from the vehicle sales would be deposited into the General Fund.
