ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Although no severe thunderstorm or tornado warnings were issued, some strong weekend storms left damage in parts of Saint Joseph County.
An area especially hit hard Saturday was Fishers Lake northeast of Three Rivers.
Several homes were damaged from the storm which moved through just after 6:00 p.m. with a few reported to be total losses.
There were also reports of numerous uprooted trees and overturned boats in the lake.
Residents, who spent much of Sunday working on cleanup, say the worst of the storm lasted about ten minutes and that the winds sounded like a freight train.
The National Weather Service has not confirmed any investigations at that location at this time.
M-66 about three miles north of Sturgis had to be shut down after the storms knocked power lines down onto the road.
