COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Another step in the process of turning the former Gillespie Funeral Home at 27 Marshall Street into a seven unit housing structure took place during Monday’s Coldwater City Council meeting.
The Council scheduled a public hearing for their June 28 meeting on an Obsolete Property Rehabilitation Abatement Application.
Neighborhoods Service Director and City Assessor Deb Sikorski told the City Council the application was received from the 27 Marshall Street Group two weeks ago.
Sikorski reported there are no delinquent taxes related to the facility.
Southern Michigan Bank & Trust has owned the property and they have been working with the City of Coldwater and the State of Michigan on securing grant funding to help offset the costs.
When finished, the restored building will be known as “Southern Flats.”
