ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – Scammers are calling people up in Steuben County and trying to get personal identifying information by saying they are from county’s Magistrate Office.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office says they have been told about the scam attempts by the Magistrate’s Office.
These calls are not legitimate as neither the Steuben County Magistrate or anyone at the courthouse would ever call residents and ask for personal information.
You are once again being reminded by law enforcement to never give out personal identifying and/or banking information over the phone, especially if the call was unsolicited.
