ATHENS, MI (WTVB) – There’s been another alleged highway shooting incident in the Branch County area and this time, it wasn’t along I-69 or I-94. Instead, the location was M-66 near Athens Wednesday afternoon. No one was injured.
A woman driving with her husband and son in her SUV claims her driver’s side window suddenly shattered from what she believed was a bullet. Broken glass flew all over the interior of the vehicle. Investigators aren’t ready to say whether it was a bullet or just debris that blew out the window, but they will be analyzing the evidence. Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputies searched the area with K-9 dogs.
So far there have been 20 incidents reported, but only three have been confirmed as bullet hits and all of those occurred in Calhoun County along I-94 and I-69.
