COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – School safety for kids in Coldwater has been in the spotlight with the start of the new class year and that includes a change of location for where the district’s busses are doing their transfers. Last year, it was happening at Max Larsen Elementary and that’s been switched to Legg Middle School. Coldwater School Superintendent Terry Boguth says the new location allows the transfers to happen when there aren’t cars in the parking lot. Boguth said it also relieves the concerns of having the transfers happen at a building where school had already been dismissed and there would no adults there to help. At the Coldwater School Board meeting this week on Monday night, Boguth gave praise to a number of people on her staff as well as several teachers and administrators who joined her to experience the situation first hand as they went to the middle school for two weeks and helped transfer the students, knowing that they were helping a number of little ones become familiar to know what busses they need to get so they can do that by themselves. They are also working on a new plan to increase safety for parents and the students at dismissal time at the end of the day.
