MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – Area officials were reminded again Monday that the Coldwater State Police Post won’t be closing any time soon even with yesterday’s dedication of the Marshall Regional Enforcement Center which will be home to State Police troopers, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputies and Marshall City Police. The post in Coldwater will still be a detachment for the State Police with troopers assigned to the location as will White Pigeon and Battle Creek although the operations center that has been in Coldwater for a number of years will be moved to Marshall.
Michigan State Police Director, Colonel Kriste Kibbey Etue, said the $10 million, 36,000 square-foot building on Old 27 is the first such cooperative facility in Michigan and is unique to anything across the United States. Calhoun County deputies and Marshall Police will be moved into the building by the end of next week with the State Police relocation happening before October 1, 2015.
