ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – An Angola man wanted on a warrant for violating his parole was arrested Monday night on the west side of Angola after the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department say he tried to flee from police.
39-year-old Robert Joseph Bonham was spotted just before 9:00 p.m. inside of a black 2010 Dodge Charger.
When deputies tried to apprehend Bonham, he allegedly fled in the vehicle at a high rate of speed from a parking lot onto Maumee Street where he collided with
another vehicle.
According to a Sheriff’s Department news release, Bonham then fled the accident scene on foot but was located an apprehended a short time later.
Bonham was taken into custody and booked into the Steuben County Jail on charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, resisting law enforcement and leaving the scene of an accident.
Bonham was being held on a $8,000 bond and is also facing the alleged violation of parole. The vehicle crash was investigated by the Indiana State Police. Angola Police also assisted the Sheriff’s Office.
