Gary Lee Sitzes, 62 of Quincy passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at his home while
surrounded by his loving family after a courageous four year battle with cancer.
A memorial service will take place at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Dutcher Funeral
Home in Coldwater with Pastor David Holt officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service
beginning at 11:00 am with social distancing being in place.
Gary was born October 4, 1957 to Glenn and Norma (Barker) Sitzes in Detroit. He was a
hardworking man spending many years at Bundy Tubing until their closing and then 19 years at
Dexter Axle in Fremont until having to retire due to his health. On November 30, 1996 he
married Margo Biggins in Hillsdale.
Gary was a man of many interests, but mostly was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and
fishing, winning many bass tournaments over the years. Gary also enjoyed playing in pool
leagues and Texas Hold’em card games. His true joy in life was being with his family, especially
his grandchildren. Gary will be remembered for being generous, honest, and accepting to anyone
he came in contact with in his life. He will be missed by many.
Gary is survived by his wife of 23 years, Margo Sitzes of Quincy; his children Michelle (Corey)
Avra of Montgomery, Janelle (John) Hempel of Vicksburg, and Danielle Bunker of Bronson; his
siblings Vicki (Jack) Hargrove of Coldwater, Patty (Clark) Welch of AR, Glenn (Pam) Sitzes of
IN, Glenda Lyden of MI; his sister-in-law’s Kathy Sitzes of OH, and Judy Barker of SC; his
grandchildren Allison (Cody) Barth, Scott (Dani Sidebottom) Avra, Michael Kessler, Aiden
Bunker, and Neala Bunker; his great grandchildren Oaklee & Wrenlee Barth; several nieces and
nephews; his close friends Jim Sherwood, Tim Howard, and Chris Bunker; the American Legion
Pool League gang; and his dog “Scrappy”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his
brothers Jerry Sitzes and Tommy Barker.
