Janis Carolyn Skudlarick, 90, formerly of Girard Township, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Cambridge Senior Living in South Lyon, MI, under the care of Heart to Heart Hospice.
A private funeral service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020 at Lighthouse of Tekonsha. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater.
While the service is private, it will be livestreamed at 10 AM on the Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation Facebook page.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation of Union City.
Janis was born April 24, 1930 in Coldwater, Michigan to Harlan and Beulah (Schrader) Lampson. She attended Coldwater Community Schools, graduating in 1948. On May 27, 1949, she married Gale Skudlarick in Angola, Indiana. They made their home on the family farm in Girard Township. Gale preceded her in death in 1998.
Janis was employed by the former State Home in Coldwater, as well as at Alliance Foods. She enjoyed doing yardwork, gardening, farm life, reading and music.
She was a member of the Tekonsha-Rebecca No. 324 Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star (OES), a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Coldwater and the First United Methodist Church in South Lyon after she relocated to that community.
Survivors include a daughter, Doreen (Mark) Hannon of South Lyon; grandchildren, Natalie (Andrew) Kneifel, Emilie (Mike) Fantuz and Rebecca (Eugenio Martin) Hannon; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Benjamin; siblings Marilyn Kunce of Indianapolis, IN., and Harlene (Bob) Lewis of LaGrange, IN; and a cousin, Sally (Dave) Lockwood of Coldwater.
In addition to her husband, Janis was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Doug Skudlarick (1974); a sister, Elaine Lovan, and a sister-in-law Rachel Skudlarick.
