COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s girls gymnastics team defeated a shorthanded Adrian Maples squad in their home opener on Wednesday night 132.4 to 67.15. Adrian was unable to field a complete team due to illness. Coldwater swept all of the events.
Randi Dudek won the vault competition with 8.475 points. Two Cardinals, Avery Boyce and Gabby Schoch, tied for second place with 8.325 points.
Layla Schoch won the uneven bars with a score of 8.475. Dudek was right behind, earning 8.45 for second place.
Seven Cardinals picked up individual qualifying scores on the balance beam. Charlotte Calhoun led the way for the Cardinals with a score of 8.975 points. Dudek earned second place with her mark at 8.325. Teammates Katie Kimble and McKenna Hantz tied for the third place.
The final event of the evening was the floor exercise where Coldwater put up their highest event total of the evening at 33.6 points. The Coldwater gymnasts earned seven individual qualifying scores on the floor by scoring a 7.8 or higher. Dudek earned the top honors for her routine, collecting 8.55 points. Second place went to Schoch with 8.425 points.
In the all-around competition, the Cardinals picked up the top five places. Dudek finished with the top honors with 33.8 points. Schoch tallied 32.7 points for the second place finish. Third overall went to Avery Boyce who earned 31.55 points on the day. Gabby Schoch finished in fourth for her efforts right behind her teammates at 31.05. Katie Kimblel collected 28.725 points for her all around tally.
Coldwater will host the Saline Hornets for their next league match up on Wednesday, January 5th.
