COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Medical Director of Emergency Services at the Community Health Center of Branch County says recognition and appreciation of EMS response teams in Branch County is long overdue. Dr. David Fuchs expressed his concerns in a letter to the Branch County Board of Commissioners, hoping the situation might gain attention if commissioners took note of it at one of their sessions and had the matter placed on record in the meeting minutes.
Fuchs specifically focused on a recent traffic accident in Kinderhook Township where a motorcyclist collided with a pickup truck that had drifted over the centerline on Copeland Road. According to Fuchs, the biker from Bronson lost his left leg and left arm in the August 3, 2015 crash while the quick response of the EMS system saved a life. Lakeland Fire Department first responders prevented 58-year old Raymond Squier, Jr. from bleeding to death and then LifeCare EMS stabilized Squier for transfer to the Trauma Team at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne.
Fuchs asked commissioners to acknowledge the expertise of the highly trained individuals who make up the EMS system and bring them the public praise they deserve.
