TEKONSHA, MI (WTVB) – A home invasion suspect from Coldwater was seriously injured over the weekend when he was mauled by a dog after allegedly breaking into a residence in the Village of Tekonsha. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department said the 22-year old man was found at a local hospital receiving medical treatment and was later transferred to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo for reconstructive surgery from the injuries inflicted by the dog.
Deputies responded at 12:40 a.m. Sunday to the 900 block of Old 27 in Tekonsha where the 24-year old man living there said that an acquaintance entered the home through an unsecured kitchen window and assaulted him. It was during the attack that the suspect was bitten several times by the victim’s dog.
The case remains under investigation and warrants will be sought at a later date. No names were included in the news release from the Sheriff’s Department.
