BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater split their Interstate 8 matches with the Hasting Saxons on Thursday at Midway Lanes.
The Cardinals won the Girls Varsity meet 20 to 10. Coldwater won both regular games 757 to 691 and 643 to 629, taking totals 1400 to 1320. Coldwater split the Baker games losing game one 158 to 148, taking game two 164-158, losing totals 316-312.
Coldwater was led by Violet Waltke with a 192 and Lily Cook with a 183.
Hastings defeated Coldwater in the Boys Varsity meet 16 to 14.
Coldwater split the regular games, winning game one 813-674, losing game two 771-735, taking totals 1548-1445. The boys dropped game one of Baker 189 to 176, earning a tie in game two with a 171, dropping totals 360-347.
Coldwater was led by Chance Cook with a 226 game and Ryan Sturgeon with a 177. Coldwater swept the JV matches by scores of 25 ½ to 4 ½ for the girls 24-6 for the boys.
The Quincy Bowling squads were back in action on Thursday traveling to Jax 60 to take on Hanover Horton and the Orioles earned a split.
Quincy won the boys match 19-11. The Varsity Boys missed their mark in Baker one dropping the game 150-159. In Baker 2 it was all Quincy as they struck the front 7 to take a 230-138 win and captured overall points as well. In singles action the Orioles captured all but one point. Dave Milliman led Quincy with a 204 while Brady Harper rolled a 179 and Tyler Short had a 377 series.
Hanover-Horton won the girls match 20-10. The Lady Os struggled to finish off Baker 1 dropping the game 134-147. They rebounded well in Baker 2 146-116 which also captured overall totals 280-263. Leading 6-4 after Baker play the Orioles were out shot as Hanover took 3 of 5 and game 1. In game 2 the Orioles fought hard but fell short of the needed points. Elly Brewer led Orioles with a 158.
In JV action, Hanover-Horton defeated Quincy 25-5 with Max Stetler [142,145] Dylan Sadger [164,144] and Cameron Barry [119] leading the way for the young Oriole squad.
