DOWAGIAC, MI (WTVB) – It almost makes you want to go back to dealing in nothing but cash. An inspector for the Michigan Department of Agriculture Weights and Measures was doing a routine check on the pumps at the Marathon station in Dowagiac when he found several card skimming devices inside the pumps. They believe the station was chosen because it gets a lot of business off the interstate. Using stolen card numbers from customers would be tougher to trace to the source. The skimmers could transmit vital codes and information to someone nearby with a laptop, but there is no way of telling when it was done. The devices may have been used weeks ago and then abandoned. The inspectors contacted State Police and the Secret Service to investigate.
