COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Gas prices spiked on Friday across Branch County about 25 cents a gallon but last night at a number of stations, the prices fell back again to around $2.35 a gallon. Gasbuddy.com says we could be a month away from seeing gas prices plunge back below two dollars a gallon.
Oil Analyst Patrick Dehaan says with oil reserves at near capacity, the Chinese economy slowing and Iranian oil threatening to flood an already saturated global market, prices should really drop and it should be an affordable time at the pump this fall. He says we won’t have to wait until Thanksgiving, like last year.
Dehaan believes we’ll start to see the first stations under two bucks perhaps in the next few weeks, maybe early to mid-September. He says determining when these lower prices will end and reality will set back in is much more difficult to do, but some day it will happen.
