LANSING, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan Supreme Court upheld a portion of the state’s Freedom to Work Act, saying that changes four years ago to the state employees’ retirement system and the creation of Right to Work in the public sector didn’t overstep the authority of the Michigan Civil Service Commission or violate state law.
The High Court also ruled that the Legislature could legally ask state employees to either pay an additional fee to stay in the state’s pension plan or join a 401-K plan free of charge.
