GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Girls Gymnastics team traveled to Kenowa Hills Saturday for an invitational with eleven competing teams from eight different schools around the state. Coldwater finished in ninth and eleventh with their two teams. The gymnasts divided their squad into two groups in order to get more individuals in the competition.
Four Cardinals earned personal best marks on the balance beam. Charlotte Calhoun finished in sixth place for division two with her PR of 9.2 to lead the Cardinal scoring. Layla Schoch also posted a personal record and tied for third place in division one with her mark of 9.1.
Four Cardinals pick up personal records on the floor exercise. Senior Avery Boyce recorded her personal best mark at 8.85 points for Coldwater. She finished in 10th place. overall for division two.
McKenna Hantz led Coldwater in vault she earned a season best of 8.75 points to finish in the top five in division one.
Calhoun tied for eighth place on the uneven bars with her performance of 8.2 points.
Layla Schoch finished the day with an all-around score of 33.05. Kiraly Schoenauer was close behind with a personal best of 33.025 for her four event total. Hantz collected a total of 32.55 points for her competition.
At the close of the meet Coldwater had two Cardinals claim the wing at the traditional handstand contest. For all of the Seniors at the invite, Avery Boyce held her handstand the longest. Charlotte Calhoun held her handstand for the longest of all of the sophomores at the meet.
