COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater’s spending plan for the fiscal year beginning July 1st is ready for a public hearing, which is slated to happen at Monday night’s regular meeting of the City Council. The budget as presented now shows a deficit of $181,000. According to City Manager Jeff Budd, the City fortunately will remain in a strong economic position due to minimal debt and the conservative fiscal policies of the City Council. Budd says economic growth, coupled with legislative fixes to the funding of roads and municipalities will be needed to protect the long-term financial stability of the City. The next step in the process will be the final adoption of the City’s budget which will happen at the second Council meeting of the month on June 22nd.
