CHICAGO, IL (WTVB) – Make it eight straight losses for the Tigers with the White Sox beating Detroit 4-3 in 11 innings last night in Chicago. This latest setback might have been the toughest to swallow in the skid which matches the Tigers’ longest tailspin since 2005. Detroit went down to defeat when Alex Wilson hit former Tiger Avisail Garcia with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th to give the White Sox the victory at U.S. Cellular Field. Detroit led 3-1 when Garcia went deep in the seventh and Adam LaRoche added a ninth inning solo shot to send the game to extras when he connected off Joakim Soria, who blew his second save of the year. The Tigers 25-25 record puts them at .500 for the first time this season but at least they didn’t lose any ground in the American League Central, staying 5 games behind the division leading Twins, who lost Friday as did second place Kansas City. David Price goes to the mound tonight for Detroit in game two of the three-game series in the Windy City.
The Cubs lost last night, falling 7-5 to the Nationals at Washington.
