Dr. Charles D. Vogler, 81, of Coldwater, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Drews Place of Coldwater with his family by his side.
Funeral service for Dr. Charles D Vogler will be held Friday, March 4, 2022 at 12 noon at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy with Pastor Drew Foster officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
He was born on December 26, 1940 in Sheffield, Alabama to Frank and Anna (Reinhold) Vogler who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents Charles was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister as well as his son-in-law Christopher Woodhull.
Charles graduated Deshler High School in 1959. Charles was offered a scholarship to play football for the University of Alabama but wanted to focus on his studies and accepted an academic scholarship instead. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science with double majors of Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of Alabama in 1964. Charles then went on to work at The Boeing Company from 1965-1969 as a computer programmer for the Saturn 5 Project.
While working for The Boeing Company Charles earned his Master of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Alabama in 1968. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy from the Texas College of Osteopathy Medicine in 1975. Charles completed his residency at St. Louis University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri for his degree in Psychiatry in 1979.
Most of Charles’ medical career was spent in Michigan working for the Community Health Center of Branch County and working for the State of Michigan in Kalamazoo.
In his spare time he enjoyed waterfowl hunting, pheasant hunting, watching Alabama football and running. Charles was a man of Faith, he most recently attended Coldwater Free Methodist Church.
Charles married Elizabeth (Bell) in 1977 and she preceded him in death in 2008. Charles is survived by one daughter, Kelly Woodhull of Coldwater; two sons, Christian (Nicole) Vogler, William (Ashli) Vogler both of Coldwater and five grandchildren, Samuel Westgate, Madilynn Hayes, Elizabeth Vogler, Maggie Woodhull and Max Woodhull.
