Darlene Mae Moross, 71, of Tekonsha, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022 in the care of Southern Care Hospice at The Laurels of Coldwater.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Lighthouse of Tekonsha, 616 North Main Street in Tekonsha, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m., just prior to the service.
Private interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation Services.
Darlene was born on February 25, 1951 in South Bend, Indiana to Carl and Ruth (Mead) Dickey. Darlene grew up in Galien, MI and lived there until she was 16 years old. Her family moved to Homer, MI in 1967. She graduated from Homer Community Schools in 1969. In 1979, Darlene moved to Tekonsha, MI.
On May 10, 1970, Darlene married Phillip Goodman, who preceded her in death in 1996. They had three children together, Denise, Stacie, and Phillip. Darlene later married Michael Moross on May 30, 1998. He survives.
Darlene worked most of her life in customer service, including at truck stops and Wendy’s. When not at work, Darlene absolutely loved having coffee and conversations. She had many interests and hobbies: bowling, sewing, reading, watching gameshows, westerns, romance, and mysteries, to name just a few.
Darlene also volunteered her time to help those around her. She was a Girl Scouts and Brownie leader, as well as a founding member of the AA group in Tekonsha. She would have celebrated 30 years of sobriety this year. Darlene helped with the Branch Area 763 Detachment of the Marine Corps League, where her husband is the current Commandant. Darlene was also a member of the Marine Corps League Auxiliary – Flint Unit.
In addition to her husband, Michael Maross, of Tekonsha, Darlene is survived by her children: Denise (Michael) Renfro, Stacie (Brian) Austin, and Phillip (Carrie) Goodman, all of Tekonsha; her grandchildren: Morgan, Taylor, and Lance Renfro, Chase Austin, and Chamellia and Jade Goodman; her great-grandson, Aaron Bowers; her sister, Diane (Tony) Wooster of Manassas, VA; and her cousin, Dale (Betty) Davis of Niles.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Phil Goodman; and her sister-in-law, Tina Goodman.
