COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – With his rendition of Chuck Berry’s, “Jonny B. Goode” Zane Tucker stole the show at the 12th annual “Spotlight On Teens” Talent Show at the Tibbits Opera House on Saturday night, earning him first place in the competition. A 16-year-old home school student from Coldwater, Tucker made a lasting impression on both judges and audience members, winning $100 for first place and $50 for the Text Voting Audience Choice Award.
Second place was awarded to Kenydee Otto, a ninth grader at Coldwater High School. Otto tap danced to Michael Jackson’s “Gotta to be Startin’ Somethin’,” choreographed by Doug Brown. She took home $75. Coldwater High School’s Sarah Odom and Helen Blansit won third place honors and $50 with a clever skit using monologues, songs and a ukulele. Lexi Galliers was the youngest winner at age 11 taking fourth place for her rendition of “Let Her Go.” Quincy High School student Kailey Thorn earned fifth place and an Audience Choice Award for her signing presentation to “I Won’t Give Up,” taking home $25.
Judges for the event were Kathy Armstrong a long time supporter of Tibbits and TYA, Coldwater High School alum and Michigan State University alum Josh Drzewicki, and WTVB Station Manager Ken Delaney. The Teen Talent Show is a project of Tibbits-Theatre and Beyond, or T-Tab, a group of middle and high school students who enjoy theatre.
