COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The effort by the Branch County Economic Growth Alliance and the City of Coldwater in landing a quarter of a billion dollar project aimed at bringing hundreds of new jobs to the area has been put in the national spotlight. NDC, the National Development Council recently honored the City of Coldwater and the Growth Alliance as part of the half dozen semi-finalists in the job creation category at the NDC Academy 2015 Awards for the recruitment of Clemens Food Group.
The awards recognize the top economic and community development projects in the country. The Clemens pork production facility project was recognized for the collaboration between state, local and private entities – all working together to create over 800 new jobs.
Lisa Miller, Branch County Economic Growth Alliance, Executive Director said the culmination of years of careful planning, hard work and diverse collaboration has noticeably paid off. Miller went on to say that receiving recognition on a national level speaks to great lengths about how instrumental this project is on a level previously unimaginable.
She was in attendance for the ceremony in Washington D.C. along with members of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Congressman Tim Walberg.
