WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVB) – The United States House of Representatives Thursday passed th District Congressman Tim Walberg’s budget amendment to boost funding for veterans job training programs. The Republican, who is Branch County’s Representative in the House, sponsored the amendment to the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Bill.
The legislation is designed to ensure the military has the infrastructure they need, boost funding for veterans programs, and to make the Department of Veterans Affairs more accountable. Walberg specifically hopes to see funding boosted for more services for Veterans to help them transition into the civilian sector.
Michigan is home to more than 660,000 veterans and Walberg says this is just one way to salute them for their daily contributions to the vitality of our communities. His amendment would designate $5 million within the general operating expenses of Veterans Administration account to support programs to help veterans transition to the workforce.
