COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County’s jobless rate went up a bit last month, but it’s still more than two percent better than it was a year ago in March. Figures from the state released Thursday show there were actually 200 more people working last month in the county compared to February.
However, the labor force rose by 275. That resulted in an unemployment rate of 5.6% while in February it was 5.4%. In March of 2014, it was 7.8%. This year, in March, the Michigan unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.7% was slightly above the nation’s rate by one tenth of a percent.
