COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -The Branch Intermediate School District has filled a key administrative post. The BISD Board of Education yesterday approved the hiring of a Special Education Director with the job going to Darren Adair. BISD Superintendent Joe Lopez says Adair comes to Branch County from the Calhoun Intermediate School District where he’s been a Special Education Supervisor.
It’s a homecoming of sorts for Adair since he was a teacher for the Branch Intermediate School District from 1997 to 2000. Lopez says they are looking for Adair to begin his new duties as soon as possible. The starting date was posted as May 4th, and according to Lopez, they still have to negotiate with the Calhoun ISD but either way, it will be sometime next month.
In other action Thursday, the BISD Board went into executive session to discuss the status of union negotiations with BIO, the Branch Intermediate Organization. The district is in the third year of a four year contract with BIO with economic openers for health insurance and possible pay increases. The closed door talks were for informational purposes only with no proposed settlement reached yesterday.
