Joan Frances Cooper, 88, of Union City, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Union City.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Joan was born June 26, 1933 in Clarendon Township, Michigan to Floyd and Iva (Shafer) Blashfield. She attended Tekonsha High School and graduated in 1950. On September 16, 1952, she married Charles Cooper in Angola, IN. He preceded her in death in 2002.
Joan was a sweet and thoughtful person. She worked for several years at Brott’s Grocery in Union City, where she was a friendly and familiar face. She liked going to horse races with her husband, playing BINGO in Fremont, IN with her sister, Ilah, following MSU sports and reading. Joan attended the United Methodist Church in Union City.
Left to cherish Joan’s memory are her daughter, Shayne (Walt) Tresenriter of Fremont, IN; grandchildren, Sarah (James) Lyon of Fremont, IN, Lance (Bailey) Tresenriter of Angola, IN, Megan Tresenriter of Bloomington, IN and Allyn Tresenriter of Evansville, IN; great-grandchildren Hayden and Allison Lyon, Cameron and Claire Tresenriter; sisters, Ilah Clark of Burlington and Jean Hall of Marshall; and close family friend, Richard Niccum of Fowlerville.
In addition to her husband, Joan was preceded in death by her son, Randie Cooper (1973), and her siblings, Ruth Dean and Boyd Blashfield.
