BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings opened their girls softball season by sweeping Sturgis in a doubleheader on Wednesday by scores of 8-0 and 15-0.
Lynsey Smith was the winning pitcher in the opener as she struck out seven in three innings of work. Mya Webb pitched four scoreless innings of relief.
Ciara Blanskenship led the Bronson offense with three hits.
Bronson’s Addison Harris pitched a three inning no-hitter in the nightcap.
Blankenship had three hits and three stolen bases in the second game.
Brealyn Lasky, Lynsey Smith and Aubrey Calloway all doubled.
Bronson Coach Becky Gray said, “All three pitchers came out and threw well tonight. I thought are defense was good and improved from last year. We have work to do on the offensive side of the ball, but I am confident that the girls will work hard to improve. Overall I was pleased with our effort tonight.”
Bronson’s next action will be on April 12 against Springport
