LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Supporters of Proposal 1 say that there is no plan B, but to one opponent of the statewide road funding ballot question, there is one in the Legislature right now. Freshman Republican Representative Cindy Gamrat of Plainwell is one of the sponsors of former House Speaker Jase Bolger’s road funding proposal that has been introduced in the House. A majority of polls have Prop 1 going down to defeat on May 5th.
Gamrat has been barred from future closed-door GOP caucus meetings. No official reason was given, but MIRS News cites sources within the party saying that she allegedly leaked information from previous confidential gatherings over a lengthy period of time, even though she has only been in the House since January. Gamrat denies the claims. She is a candidate for the open state Republican National Committeewoman seat that will be decided on May 9th.
