READING, MI (WTVB) – Quincy’s baseball team improved to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the Big 8 Conference as they swept a doubleheader from Reading at Barre Field on Wednesday by scores of 3-0 and 16-8.
Brady Mescher threw a three hit shut out in the opener. He recorded a career high 13 strike outs and was efficient while limiting the Ranger bats.
Karsen Maurer and Grant Holroyd both with two hits and an RBI.
Mescher helped his cause with an rbi groundout and no errors were committed by the Orioles defensively.
Quincy used a eight run third inning to win game two.
Maurer was the winning pitcher in relief. He pitched 4 1/3 innings and recorded seven strikeouts.
He had another two hit game while also walking twice. Ethan Copas had a key two run single in the third inning and finished with two hits and 4 RBI’s.
Mescher three RBI’s. Hunter Tinervia had 3 RBI’s and Riley Miner swiped four bases leading to three runs.
