COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – While families displaced by the fire Monday at the Coldwater Inn motel continue to receive aid from the American Red Cross and Branch County Victims Services organization, it appears some of that aid might not be needed for much longer. Although the Red Cross had set up an emergency information and aid station at the Coach Eby Youth and Family Center in Coldwater, only a handful of people took advantage Friday of the shelter opened at the former Franklin Alternative High School in Girard.
The Branch County United Way does continue to have a separate emergency fund set up at Southern Michigan Bank and Trust for monetary donations. Relief organizations already said Thursday afternoon they were inundated by clothing donations and couldn’t take any more.
