LANSING, MI (WTVB) – As the number of snow days continue to increase statewide, another effort is being launched in Lansing to add three snow days to the six currently allowed without having to add on to the calendar at the end of the year. Representative Phil Potvin of Cadillac is behind the latest push to add three more snow days allowed. He says adding the extra days at the end of the school year creates issues for both families and teachers. Potvin notes families are trying to plan vacations around the school calendar. He says for some teachers, they jump into classes as students sometimes immediately after the academic year ends. Potvin’s legislation is currently before the House Education Committee.
