COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – One of the Branch County Sheriff’s Department vehicles scheduled to be retired may be used in the future by the Branch County Memorial Airport.
Airport Manager Joe Best is requesting the Branch County Board of Commissioners approve the airport buying the vehicle it can be used as a courtesy car.
The price of the vehicle will be negotiated with the Sheriff’s department and Best will notify Commissioners when a price is determined.
Meanwhile, Branch County Administrator Bud Norman is requesting a 10 percent temporary increase to the county’s 2022 mileage rate of 58 ½ cents per mile after several departments voiced concerns due to the increased fuel costs.
If approved, the new rate of .645 per mile would be in effect from July 1 through the end of the year. After six months it will be re-evaluated.
Commissioners decided during their work session on Thursday to bring both matters forward to Tuesday’s regular meeting for formal action.
