COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners approved a request from Branch County Memorial Airport Manager Joe Best on Tuesday to buy one of the police vehicles for $7,000 that is scheduled to be retired.
Best plans to have the vehicle available as a courtesy car for the airport.
When the courtesy vehicles are used, it is required that the user fill the gas tank as the airport is not responsible for fuel.
In other business, the Commissioners formally approved having the Branch County Courthouse be closed on Monday, June 20 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
The State Court Administrator’s Office has informed the local courts that the Michigan Supreme Court has entered an order adding Juneteenth as an official court holiday.
With the majority of the offices in the Courthouse being affiliated with the courts, it was recommended the Courthouse be closed in observance of this new legal holiday.
