BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – There’s less pain at the pump these days as gas prices have backed off in recent weeks from record highs.
The web site gasbuddy.com reports prices around the City of Coldwater are now at $4.89 a gallon. That’s a drop of almost 30 cents a gallon from early June.
Spotters for the web site report gas is less expensive outside of Coldwater.
One station in Quincy was selling gas for as low as $4.74 while a station in Bronson was at $4.80.
The cheapest in the area can be found in Sturgis where prices are as low as $4.49 a gallon.
Triple-A Michigan reports the average price in the state has dropped below $5 a gallon. Tuesday’s average was $4.94 a gallon which is down 11 cents in the last week.
Gas Buddy’s Patrick DeHaan said in his June 27 blog says the price of oil has faltered, ushering in the drop we’re seeing. But he added “motorists should be wary that while the decline could continue for the week ahead, any sudden jolts to supply could quickly cause a turnaround, and risk remains that when the peak of hurricane season arrives, we could see a super spike at the pump.”
