Vernon F. VanWhy, 78, of Granger, IN, formerly of Coldwater, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022 at his home.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Mark Case officiating. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will take place at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Vernon was born December 21, 1943 in Stroudsburg, PA, to Henry and Alice (Werkheiser) VanWhy. He married Rebecca J. Barnes on October 22, 1966 in Coldwater.
Mr. VanWhy was the General Manager for the Coldwater Rendering from 1964 until his time of retirement in 2000. He also served as an active duty member in the United States National Guard.
Vern was an avid Notre Dame fan who enjoyed playing golf, boating and watching sporting events. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Vern is survived by his wife Becky; his children Wendei Hadley of Mishawaka, IN, Nick (Seva) VanWhy of Provo, Utah; his grandchildren Nathan (Emma) VanWhy, Ryan (Lexie) Hadley, Kollin VanWhy, Savanah (Bryce) Enos, Nicole Hadley; great grandchildren Milo VanWhy and Jonas Vernon Hadley. He was preceded in death by his brother Paul VanWhy.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or ProMedica Coldwater Home Health and Hospice.
