COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It’s been several years in the planning, but Tommy’s House, a transitional home for women released from jail is now a reality.
A ribbon cutting and open house for the home at 50 North Clay Street in Coldwater will be held Saturday, December 3.
Kathy Olmstead from Tommy’s House Ministries says the halfway house will focus on rehabilitation for drug and alcohol offenders, filling what she called a tremendous need in the community. Tommy’s House was the brainchild of Tommy Olmstead, who served as a volunteer chaplain at the Branch County Jail.
An initial site on Pierce Street did not win approval by the Coldwater City Planning Commission last year. The ribbon cutting at this latest location, which is still undergoing renovation by volunteers, will be held Saturday at 12 noon, with the open house scheduled from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
