Union City also opens their season tonight with a home game against Colon.
—BOYS BASKETBALL—
It will be a busy night of boys basketball Tuesday night in Coldwater. The Cardinals boys basketball program will be hosting eight different schools for pre-season scrimmages. While the Girls Varsity and J.V. games against Portage Central will be a the main gym at the high school, the boys scrimmages will be at the Dr Robert W. Browne Recreation Center and Legg Middle School starting at 5:30 p.m.
—MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL—
The Legg Middle School 8th grade A team is now 4-4 after they defeated Sturgis 61-27. Bradley Moore was the leading scorer with 20 points while Cayrin Thompson had 17 points and Spencer Rodesiler added 12 points.
The Legg Middle School 8th grade B team is 3-4 after they defeated Sturgis 35-33. Zakariya Saeed led the scoring with 14 points.
The Legg Middle School 7th grade teams also swept Sturgis. The A team is 6-2 after they won 49-22. Ethan Crabtree scored 11 points, Brock Thorton grabbed eight rebounds, Evan Sloan had three blocks and Brandon Downs had five assists and six steals.
The B team improved to 8-0 with a 44-8 victory. Jett Galloway scored 12 points, three assists and three steals while Connor Kruger had four rebounds.
