COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man who was charged in connection with a July 4, 2016 knife attack was given an 11 month jail sentence Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
35-year-old Johnny Edwards entered a no contest plea to a charge of assault with a weapon. Another count as well as an habitual offender sentencing enhancement were dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for the plea.
Edwards apologized for his actions in court. The victim in the incident did not show up for the hearing.
Edwards was given 147 days credit for time already served by Judge Bill O’Grady.
