COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A teenager from Montgomery was sentenced Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered a guilty plea to attempted accosting of a minor for immoral purposes.
18-year-old Loren Clouse was arrested in June 2016 following a Coldwater Police Department investigation into inappropriate texts he sent by Facebook Messenger to a 12-year-old girl.
The conviction did not qualify Clouse for work release. He was told to serve three years on probation and was given a six month jail sentence with everything over 90 days suspended.
In exchange for the guilty plea, two other charges were dismissed by prosecutors.
Clouse said he was disgusted with his decisions, which took place when he was 17. Judge Bill O’Grady told Clouse he made some very poor decisions and that while he had never been in trouble before, the judge was concerned with the path Clouse was taking.
