COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities collected the highest amount of hazardous waste since 2011 during its annual collection on October 1.
Over 24,000 pounds was collected at the BPU Service Building at Waterworks Park which was almost 6,000 pounds more than 2015.
The last time there was that much hazardous waste collected was in 2011 when over 25,000 pounds was collected.
Almost half of the waste collected this year came from the City of Coldwater.
A total of 307 vehicles showed which was the most since 2011 when there were 367 vehicles.
Of the 307 vehicles, 149 were from the City of Coldwater while another 59 came from Coldwater Township followed by 19 from the City of Bronson.
The total cost of this years household hazardous waste collection was just under $14,000 which was about $1,000 more than last year.
