MENDON TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A 36-year-old Sturgis man was arrested Tuesday night on numerous charges after the Michigan State Police say he was caught with drugs, alcohol and a firearm.
Troopers say there was a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a corn field off of Silver Street near M-60 in Mendon Township. When they arrived, State Police report they found an unresponsive man in the driver’s seat.The man woke up and tried to drive off but he stopped the vehicle and passed out.
Troopers got the man out but in doing so they saw the driver try to dump the contents from a bottle of vodka he was holding. The driver failed sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for OWI/OUID.
While searching the vehicle, troopers found a shotgun, a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine and marijuana along with several pills identified as Alprazolam which is used as a date rape drug.
The driver was subsequently charged with possession with intent to deliver meth and marijuana, possession of analogues, felon in possession of a firearm, OUID, driving on a suspended license and possession of open intoxicants.
