BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – An amended Solar Ordinance is scheduled to come before the Batavia Township Planning Commission on September 7.
The meeting in the Batavia Township Hall will start that evening at 7:30 p.m..
The ordinance has been tightened up after the Planning Commission approved a special permit for a 20-megawatt solar farm near M-86 and Snow Prairie Road last October.
A moratorium on solar projects was then instituted to allow for a new ordinance to be written which deals with setback and screening issues.
Township trustee Mike Crenshaw says the amended ordinance will protect home values.
Also on the September 7 agenda will be a review and a recommendation to change ordinance language covering non-conforming lots.
Written comments can be addressed to Township Zoning Administrator Walt Smith at 319 Lindley Road, Coldwater, 49036.
