COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The votes from the November 8 general election in Branch County have been certified by the county Board of Canvassers and the totals have been posted on the county’s web site.
There were no official candidates for County Surveyor but current Surveyor Edward Reed got 99 write in votes.
There were also no candidates for Noble Township Supervisor.
Girard Township Supervisor Gene Easterday was re-elected as he defeated Phillip AcMoody on Election Day 620-158. Easterday edged AcMoody by one vote in the August Republican Primary.
AcMoody’s request for a recount went down the drain when it was determined the seal numbers on the bottom of the two ballot containers were not recorded properly as required by state law.
AcMoody ran as a write in candidate in the general election.
A write in candidate in Sherwood Township won a seat on the Board of Trustees. Democrat Marjorie Whitcomb had 543 votes while Frederick Haack finished second with 30 votes. No Republicans were on the ballot.
