LANSING, MI (WTVB) – 58th District State Representative Eric Leutheuser, R-Hillsdale, has been named as majority caucus chair for the upcoming 2017-18 session following a vote on Thursday by State House membership.
The Republican from Hillsdale is completing his first term as representative of the 58th District, which includes Branch and Hillsdale counties.
Leutheuser has been the vice chair of the Committees on Elections and Financial Liability Reform. He has also served as a member of the Committees on Commerce and Trade, and Communications and Technology. He previously was selected as deputy caucus chair for the current term, ascending to caucus chair with the September passing of Representative Peter Pettalia.
With the G.O.P. keeping their majority in the House following Tuesday’s elections, the caucus chair will help develop the majority caucus agenda with the principal leaders. The chair also presides over meetings with the full Republican membership and assists with the development of policy.
