QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – A Quincy man was arraigned on five charges Monday in Branch County District Court following an alleged incident of domestic violence over the weekend.
33-year-old Matthew Allen Jackson has been charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder or by strangulation and domestic violence. He is also facing two counts of resisting law enforcement.
According to Branch County court documents, the charges were filed following the alleged incident last Saturday in an apartment on Glenn Avenue in Quincy that was investigated by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department.
Jackson was accused by the alleged victim of throwing a phone at her as well as choking, beating and head butting her.
She later told deputies she had to go to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital the next day because her throat began to hurt.
Bond was set at $100,000 during Jackson’s arraignment and a not guilty plea was entered.
He was ordered not to have any contact with the alleged victim if he should post bond.
A probable cause hearing was scheduled for October 13 with a preliminary exam set for October 18.
