UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – In a battle of conference champions from the Cascades and Big 8 Conferences Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field, Napoleon held Union City scoreless for the first time this season in a 15-0 win.
The Pirates scored all the points they needed in the second quarter, as quarterback Grant Bradley had a 36-yard TD run and threw a 16-yard TD pass to Trent Jester.
Offensively for the Chargers, Riley Laird had 20 carries for 126 yards and had a 13-yard reception. Elijah Payne was 3/8 passing for 26 yards. Colton Russell had 14 tackles to lead the defense, while Owen Jackson added 10.
Napoleon wrapped up its first undefeated regular season in 20 years as they improved to 9-0, while Union City dropped to 7-2. Both teams will find out who their opponents in the MHSAA Football Playoffs will be Sunday night at 6 p.m. on Bally Sports Detroit.
The Cascades Conference went 5-2 in this year’s crossover games; Reading and Homer picked up the only wins for the Big 8 Friday night.
