UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Village of Union City with assistance from the Union Lake Association plan to celebrate the 100th year of the Riley Dam this summer. “100 Dam Years” is set for July 22, 2023. The rain date is July 23.
Organizers say Bayou County, a nationally touring Creedence Clearwater Revival Tribute Band, will be playing on the berm of the dam at 7:30 p.m.. Fireworks over the dam will take place after the concert at dusk. Food trucks and food options will be available and the dam will be open for tours from 3:00 p.m. -6:00 p.m.
Shuttle Service will run back and forth between the dam from Union City High School, as parking may be limited around the dam.
The Riley Dam has brought Union City 100 Years of Hydro Electric Power and a recreational lake. A huge celebration was held in 1923 when the dam opened.
